Students who are interested in pursuing an educational program in the social sciences often inquire about psychology degree internships. A psychology degree provides students with an insight to the human mind and behavior. American Psychological Association Summer Science Fellowship

The program includes all expenses and students engage in six weeks of laboratory experiences exploring the various aspects of psychology and engaging in innovative research. The program is open to 12 senior students who have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and psychology GPA of 3.25. The internship is unique to psychology because it involves research specifically on the psychology areas. The internship partners with George Mason University and the school strives to improve human potential through research-based practice and research that is abreast on current practices.

Summer Program in the Neurological Sciences and Other Neuroscience Research Training and Funding Opportunities

The program features instruction by top neuroscience researchers on revolutionary basic and clinical research. Participants learn about new technology, scientific research abilities, ethics in biomedical research, and information technology as it applies to biomedical research. At the end of the program, students present their summer research in front of the National Institute of Health’s science community. The program is open to high school, undergraduate, graduate, and medical students who are interested in neuroscience research. This internship is not unique to psychology, as neuroscience research applies to a variety of fields.

Undergraduate Psychology Summer Internship Program Pace University

The Counseling Center at Pace University offers four undergraduate internship opportunities. The objective of the program is to provide participants with the change to experience various functions of a professional psychologist in an academic setting. The internship is half time, unpaid, and volunteer-based. Since the internship focuses on the roles of a professional psychologist, it is unique to the psychology field. Pace University believes that every student is unique and it strives to provide students with a variety of opportunities to reach their full potential and achieve their goals.

Children’s National Medical Center Psychology Internship Program

Offers a comprehensive internship program in child clinical and pediatric psychology. Participants engage in many different didactic conferences and seminars that handle development, clinical methods, psychopathology, medical conditions, research, and health care delivery systems. The internship is full-time and lasts for one calendar year and participants receive a yearly stipend of $25, 000 and a fringe benefit package. The internship is unique to the psychology field because it deals specifically with pediatric psychology. Internship applicants must be pre-doctoral students with at least three years of full-time graduate study in clinical psychology.

Department of Veteran Affairs Psychology Internship Program

The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center offers an internship that provides participants with experiences in the roles of professional psychologists. They learn to use critical thinking, active listening, and non-judgmental skills. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 62 and in good physical and mental health and enrolled in a doctoral degree program at an APA accredited institution. They must also have completed a minimum of three years of graduate study and at least 1, 000 hours of supervised practical experience. The internship is unique to the psychology degree as it only accepts applicants from APA accredited doctoral programs.
