To be admitted into an EPSY graduate program, you must apply to the department and Texas A&M University.

Department Requirements

The following application materials are required:

  • GPA of previous coursework (no minimum, but typically 3.0 or higher on last 60 credit hours)
  • GRE verbal and quantitative scores
  • Official GRE* scores, less than 5 years old, with the following exceptions:
  • Educational Technology Master’s, SPED Master’s and School Counseling Master’s programs
  • Letters of recommendation (electronic form on online application)
  • Biographical profile
  • Admissions interview (required by Counseling and School Psychology programs)
  • *The school’s GRE code is 6003. EPSY does not use a department code.

    Application materials not uploaded to the online application must be mailed in a signed and sealed envelope to:

    Program faculty determines admission of an applicant to the specific program. Therefore, you must apply to a specific program. Admissions decisions are made based on application materials, as well as on space and resources available within the program and the department.

    The following are also considered:

  • Personal characteristics: fluency in languages other than English that are spoken by students/clients with whom our graduates would expect to work; motivation characteristics, pro-social orientation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Life and/or work experiences: life and/or professional experience with populations with increased risk for educational and psychological adjustment difficulties.
  • Career goals and interests: expression of specific goals and interests in meeting educational and mental health needs of populations with increased risks.
  • Applicants may submit additional materials, but these items will not be submitted with applications for faculty review.

    International students admitted to exclusively online programs will not be issued an I-20 if admitted.

    The following programs have additional admission requirements:

  • Ph.D. in School Psychology
  • M.Ed. in School Counseling
  • Texas A&M University Requirements

  • Completed and signed graduate application
  • Application fee of $50 ($90 for international applicants)
  • Official transcript from every higher education institution previously attended
  • Official GRE* scores, less than 5 years old, with the following exceptions:
  • Official TOEFL scores, less than 2 years old (International Applicants; see OGS directions for waivers)

    Residency Requirements

    All students must comply with University residency requirements. The Ph.D. programs in Counseling Psychology, School Psychology and Special Education are full-time programs on the Texas A&M University campus, and residency in Bryan/College Station is required.
